Space Power Systems Design The Next Course Will Be Held On April 23rd, 2007 In Conjunction With: April 24-26, 2007 at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, Los Angeles, CA |
This course is an outreach of the AIAA Aerospace Power Systems Technical Committee |
COURSE NAME: Spacecraft Power System Design
Symposia |
This course is designed to illustrate the multidisciplinary issues that must be considered in the systems engineering of a spacecraft electrical power system. Tailored for those new to the field, as well as experienced workers in related technologies, the course provides an overview of spacecraft power system design principles and processes, as well as component design approaches and technology alternatives. It includes information on solar array, energy storage, and power conditioning components in use today, and new technologies that are under development. While the primary focus of the course is on photovoltaic/battery power systems, other alternatives such as nuclear and radioisotope systems, solar thermal power systems, flywheels, and fuel cells are also described. Processes for system engineering of the power system include the driving requirements that define the system and how to use these to develop the power system architecture. Who Should Attend: This course is intended for systems engineers, aerospace managers, those engineers new to spacecraft Electrical Power Systems (EPS) design, engineering students, and spacecraft electrical system design professionals interested in understanding the state of the art in satellite power system design, and possibilities for the future. Registration Fees:
Advance Registration Fee: $495 (March 31 deadline)
Register before March 31 for advanced registration pricing. |
Instructors: The course instructors have over 60 years of combined experience in satellite power system design spanning over 30 different satellite programs used in Earth orbit, Lunar orbit and interplanetary orbits. These programs span military, communications, science, and exploratory as well as manned missions.
